Code of Conduct
The following codes of conduct are agreed to by all players and parents during the registration process.
FLHA Parents Code of Conduct
I hereby pledge to live up to the FLHA Parents Code of Conduct and understand that it is inclusive of District 2, Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey rules and guidelines.
- I will enforce and support the Player’s Code of Conduct.
- I will reinforce the positive aspects of any game and team’s efforts, while refraining from ridiculing or verbally confronting any player, coach, referee, or other spectator.
- I will teach sportsmanship by example and respect for others. Obscene or vulgar language or the use of a physical gesture that is considered vulgar is not tolerated.
- I will ask for, and help, the children treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
- I will do my best to make hockey fun for my child and help them be on time for their team activities.
- I will recognize the importance of volunteer coaches. They are important to the development of the child and the sport.
- I will communicate respectfully with the coaches and support them.
- If I have concerns, I will wait an appropriate 24 hours before phoning the respective coach to have a constructive discussion regarding the concern. I will never address the concern directly in front of the player(s) or in the arena. If I have additional concerns, I will contact the level director.
- I will place the emotional and physical well being of any child ahead of any personal desire to win.
- I will support my child playing in an alcohol, tobacco, and drug free sports environment and will adhere to all FLHA policies regarding substance abuse and weapons.
- I will remember that the game is for children and not for adults.
- I will insist that my child treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
- I will assist in providing a positive team experience by volunteering to help with the team and FLHA.
- Any parent or spectator misconduct not specifically alluded to above will be dealt with on an individual basis in accordance with the FLHA grievance process.
Members breaking any rules will be subject to disciplinary action. The first violation will result in up to a two week suspension from all FLHA sanctioned activities. A second violation will result in up to suspension for remainder of season from FLHA sanctioned activities. Further discipline may be levied by USA/MN Hockey concerning other USA/MN Hockey sanctioned activities.
I agree to provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child participating in youth hockey by following this Code of Conduct.
FLHA Players Code of Conduct
I hereby pledge to live up to the FLHA Players Code of Conduct and understand that it is inclusive of District 2, Minnesota Hockey and USA Hockey rules and guidelines.
- I will take pride in the team and contribute to the team’s unity.
- I will adhere strictly to the coach’s rules and be supportive of the coach’s practice plans, game plans, and other decisions.
- I will participate in all games and practices unless there is a compelling reason for missing.
- I will be at the rink by the appointed time as set by the coach.
- I understand that hockey is recognized as a team sport; as such the interests of the team shall take precedence over individual exploits.
- I will not criticize another teammate’s play.
- I understand that no player shall criticize referees, coaches or opposing players. The only individuals who may speak to officials are the coaches and/or designated captains under the instructions of their coaches.
- I understand that all players are expected to conduct themselves in a respectable manner; destructive or delinquent behavior, during or after a game or practice, will not be tolerated.
- I will be attentive when coaches explain practice drills, game strategy, or passes along with other information or instructions.
- I will not attempt to deliberately injure another player(s)
- I will support my teammates and be a team player
- I recognize that I am representing FLHA and will act accordingly
- Expect to I play in an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free sports environment and will adhere to all FLHA policies regarding substance abuse and weapons.
- I will be humble in victory, gracious in defeat.

I agree to treat my parents, coaches, teammates and opponents with respect in my participation of youth hockey following this Code of Conduct.
