FLHA Player Development Committee (PDC) Mission, Vision and Values

The Player Development Committee recognizes its mission to serve all players, coaches and parents as members the FLHA community. Its major effort is to allow players to achieve their maximum potential both personally and athletically while participating in our hockey programs. It is the PDC’s belief that many of the most important learning experiences in hockey are associated with the sense of community among its members. Through participation in training and competitive activities, the PDC hopes to promote and teach several values to its players, coaches and parents:

  1. An appreciation for the benefits of hard work, motivation, and perseverance in both winning and losing situations;
  2. A sense of group loyalty and the ability to work as a team;
  3. A feeling of pride in accomplishment through fair and honest means;
  4. An appreciation for hockey as a sporting activity that requires a high level of skill that is learned over a long period of time;
  5. And a sense of good sportsmanship and a high level of personal integrity and ethical conduct.

The PDC is a “player – athlete” centered group that places the needs of children first in the process of developing new hockey programs or the on-going development and maintenance of existing programs. Furthermore, the PDC believes that one of the critical success factors to program development is the recruitment, education and retention of a Coaching & Mentor Staff that is committed to the following principles:

  1. Promotion of player creativity. It must be fun!
  2. Supports “athletic development” as a core requirement to develop its hockey players
  3. Considers the appropriateness of the training / practice activity for the age and level of play
  4. Incorporates individual and team goal setting
  5. Stresses the importance of character, behavior, attitude and self discipline as key life skills
  6. Allows for the opportunity for players and coaches to measure & evaluate their self improvement
  7. Facilitates the player’s passion for the sport of hockey as a life-long athletic activity

Together, with all of the other FLHA leaders, committee members and volunteers, the PDC we

will assist in nurturing the long-term growth and development of its player participants.

Player Evaluation Forms

  • Coaches are responsible for printing out eval forms for each skater
  • New skills added to that level of play are in red color on eval forms
  • Goalie eval form will not be used during the season as GDI will be doing goalie evals; however, the PDC has included it as a "guide".
